SUMMARY:Laguna Seca Pre-HPDS Track Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join Andrei Fenner\, GGC south area rep at EDGE Motorworks in Mountain View for a free track talk! EDGE’s special guest Kevin Pankhurst (see bio below) will be presenting and plans to explain in detail the nuances of every turn at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. This session is recommended for all students registered for GGC’s HPDE at Laguna Seca but is well suited to beginner and intermediate students. \nDate/Time: Sunday\, February 19\, 1-4p \nPlease RSVP by email to Aleksey Kadukin\, space is limited. \nKevin Pankhurst has been into motorsports for almost 20 years\, starting in karts for a few years then transferring over to head instructor at Race Karts Inc. based in Novato\, with the primary track being Davis. His first BMW was a 1998 E36 M3 which he picked up in 2006. After discovering the quite large BMW online community he signed up with BMWCCA and soon went to his first autocross. That transitioned into a BMW Car Control Clinic and then his first track day. \nAfter several years of driving events (consistently 20+ days per year) Kevin decided to try his hand at Time Trials with NASA. He won his first event\, unseating the reigning TT champ who hadn’t lost in two years. Kevin was instantly in a battle for 1st place and has had great success. Kevin still runs TT as well as GTS with NASA\, and over the years has secured many track records for the class he runs in\, which is TTC. One of Kevin’s greatest achievements was to get the NASA NorCal track record at Laguna Seca for TTC\, and in that same weekend get the record for TTB in the same car that was prepared for TTC. Kevin beat the 2nd place TTB prepared car by .044 seconds to take 1st place. For the length of the track and the speeds they were going that equates to 1.416 feet. The closest finish Kevin has ever had. Kevin also has a NASA NorCal TTC record for the 5 mile Thunderhill track. \nNot only can Kevin drive but he also does all of the graphics at Edge Motorworks. All of the vinyl wraps and cut vinyl you see on the Edge Mortorworks are done by Kevin. He’s is constantly adding designs to the Edge portfolio and he works with any of our customers who would like to add a little or a lot of vinyl to their cars.
